QJERS operates from Kingston, Ontario on the lands of the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabeg peoples stolen through violent dispossession. Acknowledging the Indigenous histories of this land is vital to decolonising and Indigenising colonial spaces, institutions, and worldviews.

VISION

Bringing critical racial and ethnic discourses to the forefront of Canadian education through academic engagement at the undergraduate level.

MISSION

We strive to promote a better understanding of race, racialization and settler colonialism by amplifying student voices, giving the community a platform to share their writing, creative expressions and experiences of marginalization.

A Letter from the Editor

July 12, 2023

Racism and colonialism are not dead. Anyone who has lived under a Canada that feels foreign to them or was born into an otracised skin knows this. The colonial race project is an injustice that can and must be rectified by the work of today and tomorrow’s youth.

My vision for is that QJERS becomes the leading forum for undergraduate students to engage in critical racial and ethnic discourse in Canada. I am honoured to continue the work of my predecessors as Editor-in-Chief of the second volume of QJERS. I dedicate this volume to those who came before me, both in blood and in spirit. ”
